Head Coach: Dion Harris
Dion Harris attended Redford High School, & was the recipient of the 2003 State of Michigan Mr. Basketball award as the state’s best player. As a 5 star recruit at the University of Michigan, Harris played 4 years under Tommy Amaker, before playing basketball professionally overseas for teams in Cyprus, Germany, Venezuela, Japan, Colombia, & New Zealand. Coach Dion is a firm believer in teaching the fundamentals of the game, while identifying & amplifying players’ natural athletic gifts.
Assistant Coach: Tony Davis
Tony Davis had the opportunity to be a walk-on for the University @ Buffalo. Throughout his lifelong relationship with basketball, both as a player & Coach, he has seen what it takes to win, but more importantly knows how to fail forward. The game of basketball has taught Coach Tony that with the right perspective, there is just as much value to be gained in the losses as in the victories, & looks forward to teaching his players the same philosophy.
Assistant Coach: Fred Wright-Jones
Fred Wright-Jones established himself on the court at an early age guiding East Village to tournament titles @ Horatio Williams, Floyd Mayweather, & the Detroit PSL Holiday Hoops Classic, While earning numerous accolades including team captain, defensive player of the year & National honors Society president, Fred combined a passionate work ethic on the court with a devoted focus to academics. These best practices provided him the opportunity to attend the University of Michigan where he started the season as team manager, which led to being officially added to the roster as a walk-on during his sophomore year. During his collegiate career he continued to add to his resume being recognized with the Wolverines Academic All-Big Ten as well as Academic Achievement Awards.
Assistant Coach: Josh Birnberg
Josh Birnberg attended West Bloomfield High 2010-2014 & was a 4 year starter for varsity Baseball, as well as a 3 year starter for the basketball team. Josh attended Eastern Michigan University where he played baseball, & later transferred to Oakland U graduating with a degree in communication. Currently he is the head coach for West Bloomfield varsity baseball, & has numerous years of middle school coaching experience. Coach Josh is a firm believer in competing hard & earning every win by doing so.
